Le Samourai: a taste of Japan close to home

To sushi or to not sushi?

Ever consider going on a journey of Japanese flavours right here in Geneva? Then you must visit a wonderful little gem, where you can have a taste of Japan right in the extremity of Plainpalais.

Come have a taste of these exquisite little rice balls that we all love so much… at “Le Samourai”!

The restaurant’s chef and his wife offer a great variety of sushi and original plates on their menu. Everything is traditionally made à la Japanese, with fresh ingredients and prepared right in front of you.

“Le Samourai” has been around for years, since it settled near the open space of Plainpalais. The restaurant offers its guests a haven to enjoy a simple yet relaxing moment with friends. Everything is done in a way to make you feel like you’re sitting in a world apart – including the chef! The man prepares, with an impressive dexterity, the streaming orders of sushi from behind his counter.

Despite its popularity, the chef’s guests still get to enjoy intimacy at their table: the establishment only hosts up to around 20 people, so it would be a good idea to reserve your place well in advance, particularly during the weekends.

Recommended from the menu:

Sushi Kany Mayo (crab with Japanese mayo), which is a perfect blend of flavours that will stimulate your palette, and Unagi (eel marinated in teriyaki sauce) are the two items that are definitely not to be missed from the menu.

Also, while you are there, don’t forget to try Choya (Japanese prune wine) for a perfect ending to your meal.

They also do takeouts.

Average price per person (appetizer, entrée and dessert): CHF 50.-
