To the discovery of an extraordinary vintage…
This is an event not to be missed. Inaugurated in 1987 by independent Geneva winemakers, Swiss pioneers. The idea was to invite the public to come met the winemakers in person and to knock on their doors for a taste.
This weekend, the 20th of May, almost every winery of the canton (about 90 of them) will open their doors to welcome the guests. The program also includes presenting the new, very promising 2016 vintage wine, as well as the 2015 vintage barrels.
Geneva, the 3rd wine growing canton of Switzerland, enjoys a particular situation with its 3 specific regions :
The Mandement is traditionally the most visited region, but in recent years, wine amateurs are becoming increasingly more and more interested in other regions «between Arve and Rhone » (Lully, Bernex, Soral, etc.), as well as the « Arve and Lake » region (Jussy, Arnières, Gy, etc.).
This day is also the perfect occasion to go for a walk in the Genevan countryside and take strolls from village to village, (re)discover the 3 regions mentioned above, each with its own special charm.
While you’re there, aside from trying out the wines, don’t forget to visit the infrastructures as well. Because not only will you discover the marvels of Swiss wines, but you may also be delighted by the splendor of the locales where they are made. Better yet, sometimes these spaces can be rented out for special occasions.
30,000 bottle openers to be given away in celebration of the 30th anniversary
Upon purchase of a wine glass on this day (sold for 10chf each), each paticipant will receive a double lever bottle opener from the brand Murano, until the end of stock – as a token of appreciation from the winegrowers to their loyal visitors.
On this day, many vinyards offer fun activities and concerts for the visitors ; food will also be served for the entire day.
For example, The Domaine du Paradis in Satigny offers live music, food trucks and of course the possibility of tasting their 2016 vintage wines for the entire day, from 10am to 6pm.

To facilitate your trip to the Genev an countryside, the event organisers collaborated with the TPG and free buses to set in place several pickup points (www.tpg.ch) for visitors can easily roam from one village to another. In addition, CFF, the Swiss train network, has added several extra trains on the Geneva-La Plaine line – up to 4 trains per hour on this day.

30ème journée des Caves ouvertes à Genève
A la découverte d'un superbe millésime…
Cet événement aujourd'hui incontournable a été créé à Genève en 1987 par les vignerons encaveurs indépendants, pionniers en Suisse. L'idée était d'inviter la population à venir à leur rencontre et franchir la porte de leur cave.
Le 20 mai prochain c'est quasiment la totalité des caves du canton (environ 90) qui accueillera la population du canton et d’ailleurs, afin de présenter le nouveau millésime 2016 qui s'annonce très prometteur ainsi que les crus élevés en barriques du millésime 2015.
Genève, troisième canton viticole de Suisse, jouit d’une situation particulière avec ses trois régions spécifiques :
Le Mandement est traditionnellement la région la plus fréquentée, mais les amateurs des Caves Ouvertes fréquentent de plus en plus les régions "Entre Arve et Rhône" (Lully, Bernex, Soral, …) et "Arve et Lac" (Jussy, Anières, Gy, …).
Cette journée est aussi l’occasion de faire une superbe promenade dans la campagne genevoise, de passer de villages en villages, de (re)découvrir ces trois régions dont chacune a son caractère propre. Découvrir également ces domaines qui peuvent parfois vous surprendre tant par leurs vins bien sûr mais également par leur bâtisse qui sont souvent splendides et peuvent parfois être louée pour diverses occasions.
30'000 tirs bouchons offerts pour ce 30ème anniversaire
A l'achat du traditionnel verre de dégustation prévu pour cette journée (vendu CHF 10.-), chaque participant recevra un tir bouchon double levier de la marque Murano (jusqu’à épuisement du stock). Une initiative des vigneronnes et vignerons du canton pour remercier les visiteurs de leur fidélité.
De nombreux domaines proposent des activités, concerts, restaurations tout au long de cette journée pour le plaisir des visiteurs.
Le Domaine du Paradis à Satigny vous propose par exemple de la musique live, des Food Truck et bien sur la possibilité de déguster leurs millésimes 2016 toute la journée de 10h à 18h.

En bus et en train aux Caves ouvertes
Afin de faciliter les déplacements dans la campagne genevoise, une collaboration a été mise en place avec les TPG et des navettes gratuites permettent de se rendre facilement d’un village à un autre (www.tpg.ch) ainsi qu'avec les CFF qui mettent en marche, des trains supplémentaires, sur la ligne Genève -La Plaine (jusqu’à 4 relations par heure en fin de journée).
