This weekend, give yourself a hot rendez-vous, because the sun will be blazing on the 19th « Fête de l’Espoir » this Saturday May 27th, at Bout-du-Monde stadium.
Initiated in 1999, the party aims to offer the public of the swiss romand region, most notably in Geneva, 100% free access concerts given by artists from around the world, with the purpose of « making Geneva into the capital of Hope (espoir) in one day ». Aside from being a great adventure, the « Fête de l’Espoir » brings about proof that dreams can be made into reality, when one puts his mind to it.
The Program
From 2pm on, free activities are organized on the esplanades : bouncy castles, masquerade makeup, dance, escalde initiations, games, commercial stands…etc.
Concerts begin at 5pm, and will last until 1h30am in the morning.
Each artist perform songs of their choice, for a duration of 15 to 30 minutes maximum.
The artists are usually given a fixed hour to perform, but the schedules are to remain flexible, to leave some room for improv after the performance, giving the show a dash of originality.
The Public
Nearly 40,000 people party for hope each year. The party-goers consist of a public of all ages, young and older, in families and friends. Everyone is attracted by the originality of the event.
Of place and things
The event will be held at the stadium of Bout-du-Monde in Switzerland, Geneva. The stadium is made up of different buildings and multiple sport fields, as well as esplanades on grass lawns.
The concert hall
The hall has a parterre space and benches that face the stage. The scene is fully equipped for a great festival : sound systems, lights, security features and giant screens on each side of the stage.
Important exterior infrastructures :
Aside from the numerous activities mentioned above, there are also a plethora of restaurants and bars available at the event. A junior soccer tournament and a gala game for the performing artists will also be held.
If you’re more of an air-breather, there is also a giant screen for those who would prefer to enjoy the concerts outside. So if the concert hall is full, or should you prefer to stay outside and enjoy the activities outside, you can do so while enjoying the happenings of the scene.

With a career spanning some 20 years, British born songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Toby May has toured and recorded throughout the world with a variety of artists spanning many genres of music. After returning to Geneva, Switzerland, May enjoyed a successful run with the band Catcha and decided in 2010 to embark upon a solo career.
During a period of intense songwriting and musical collaboration, he enjoyed critical acclaim and media support throughout Switzerland with his first solo EP and several singles. In 2015, after a successful crowdfunding campaign May drew upon his experiences and contacts and started to work on his first full length solo studio album.
Toby May is proud to present “On Reflections” to be released in 2016.

Considering the number of people who will attend, we strongly suggest going by bike. You can rent bikes at Geneve Roule here (LINK). The first 4 hours of rental are free, the stations are open until 7pm. If you don’t manage to bring the bikes back before then, the rental will cost 2chf per hour overnight.
If you are using the TPG, here are the direct lines that will bring you to the stadium :
Bus: 11 et 21 Stop: Bout-du-Monde Last departure : 1am towards Carouge and the Gare des Eaux-Vives
Tip : in the likelihood that buses 11 and 21 will be completely full, to avoid being « sardined » into a bus-turned-hot-oven, we suggest taking a public transport until Carouge, and make your way on foot from there. It’s a 15 to 20 minutes walk to avoid the heated crowd.

Stops : Armes (you can connect 11 and 21 there), Rondeau

Le rendez-vous est fixé cette année sous un soleil de plomb le samedi 27 juin pour la 19ème « Fête de l’Espoir » au Stade du Bout du Monde.
Initié en 1999, elle a pour but d’offrir au public romand et genevois en particulier des concerts 100% gratuits d’artistes venant de tous les horizons pour « faire de Genève, l’espace d’une journée, la capitale de l’Espoir ». En plus d’être une magnifique aventure humaine, La « Fête de l’Espoir » apporte la preuve qu’un rêve peut se réaliser quand tout est mis en oeuvre pour qu’il puisse exister.
Le déroulement
L'après-midi dès 14h animations gratuites organisées sur les esplanades extérieures (châteaux gonflables, maquillage, danse, initiation à l'escalade, jeux divers, stands d'associations et de partenaires...).
Concerts dès 17h et jusqu'à 1h30 du matin.
Chaque artiste se produit selon son désir, pour une durée variant de 15 à 30 minutes maximum.
Ils sont programmés à heure fixe mais les horaires sont aménagés afin de laisser la place aux improvisations de dernière minute, d’où l’originalité de la manifestation.
Le public
Ce sont près de 40'000 personnes qui se rendent à cette fête chaque année, un public varié, où se mêle jeunes et moins jeunes, en familles ou entre amis, tous attiré par le caractère exceptionnel de la manifestation.
Le site et son aménagement
La manifestation a lieu au Stade du Bout-du-Monde à Genève (Suisse)
Il s'agit d'un stade d'athlétisme composé de plusieurs bâtiments ainsi que de terrains de sport et d'esplanades en pleine verdure.
Une Salle pour les Concerts
Elle se compose d’un parterre et de gradins face à une scène entièrement équipée comme pour un grand festival : sonorisation, lumières, aménagement de sécurité et écrans géants de chaque côté de la scène.
Une infrastructure extérieure importante comprenant :
Des restaurants et des bars pour le public, de nombreuses animations : châteaux gonflables, maquillage, escalade, des stands installés par les partenaires et différentes associations, un tournoi de football junior et un match de gala avec la participation d’artistes.
Un écran géant et une sonorisation sont installés sur l’esplanade extérieure afin de retransmettre les concerts en direct. Ainsi, le public qui ne peut entrer dans la salle lorsqu'elle est pleine, ou souhaite rester dehors afin de profiter des animations, peut voir ce qui se passe sur scène. Cette formule a permis de générer un public très nombreux.
Coup de cœur Youna
Cette année les artistes de talent sont nombreux et mais notre Coup de Cœur se porte sur l'artiste Toby May.
Avec presque 20 ans de carrière, l'auteur-compositeur et le multi-instrumentiste britannique, Toby May, a enregistré dans le monde entier avec une multitude d'artistes couvrant de nombreux genres musicaux.
Après son retour à Genève, en Suisse, Toby May a connu le succès avec le groupe Catcha et a décidé en 2010 de se lancer dans une carrière solo.
Au court d'une période de composition intense et de collaboration musicale, il a eu le soutien ainsi que le support médiatique de toute la Suisse avec son premier EP solo et plusieurs singles.
En 2015, après une campagne de crowdfunding couronnée de succès, qui s'est appuyé sur ses expériences et ses contacts , il a commencé à travailler sur son premier album de studio en solo complet.
Toby May est fier de présenter "On Reflections" sorti en 2016.
